Voices Insane - After a perfect segue from the Crickets jam, they settle into Voices nicely. Adding textural riffs to the composed section of the song, there’s little doubt they’re about to soar as the jam begins. Mellow and patient, Magner’s and Barber’s melodies swirl and chase one another, as Marc and Allen move things along with purpose. Magner introduces the signature theme of the jam around 10:30, and the rest of the band crafts their parts around its ascending beauty. Barber’s lines are tasteful and gorgeous in their own right, and genius e-drum fills from Allen (using the talking drum patch) tie things together nicely. The sounds each member creates are interwoven, but somehow they give each other the perfect amount of space. After the jam reaches its pinnacle, the band confidently downshifts, slowing things way down, until they finally land seamlessly in Rainbow song.
